Project "Media for Transparent Public Finances"
In January 2019, CODE will commence with the project "Media for Transparent Public Finances" which is a part of the initiative "Balkan Monitoring Public Finances". This will be delivered in cooperation with the organisation Fraktal and partners on the larger project “CSO as an Equal Partner in Monitoring of Public Finances", as a part of the Europe Commission's Civil Society Facility and Media Programme 2014-2015. The purpose of the Project is to empower local media to actively monitor public finances, increase transparency and inform citizens about public policies related to public spending on the local level.
The project will be delivered over six months during which 60 local media representatives will receive training about transparent reporting on local public finances. During this period, citizens will be actively informed about public finances and why there is a need for greater transparency. At the final conference, which is planned for June 2019, the Manual for Public Finances Monitoring (designed for media and CSO representatives), will be presented to the public.
